Words – Vocabulary Game
|
Words – Vocabulary Game developed by William Dobbs is a fun and educational game in which players must form words from displayed sets of letters within a set amount of time. The letters are all taken from car registration plates from around the world, and words must be formed in the same order using the random letters shown.
For example, if the letters ‘T A’ appear, a player can say ‘TABLE,’ ‘STAR,’ ‘TAKE,’ and so on, and all of these responses are correct. The word ‘ATTACK’ is incorrect because the letter ‘A’ comes before the letter ‘T’.Players can compete against other players/teams or play individually. Each correct word earns one point. The number of correct words is counted by the other players.
The answers are recorded and can be replayed, for example, if a player believes that the number of words he or she said differs from what the other players counted. If another player/team believes that a word said by the person whose turn it is was incorrect, he or she can challenge and look up the word in the on-board dictionary. Challenges can also be issued during the game by pressing the ‘Challenge’ button and pausing the clock.
If the challenge is not accepted, the challenger loses one point and the player receives the point as if there was no challenge. At the end of each round, players can see which country the number plate is from and read some background information about cars, registration plates, and motorised transportation in general within that country. There are five rounds in each game, and the person/team with the most correct words wins.
